F1 superstar Oscar Piastri linked to Supercars drive
Piastri reportedly lined up to drive Cam Waters' Monster Mustang next week
Supercars to share the stage with F1 at next week's Melbourne SuperSprint
McLaren F1 superstar Oscar Piastri has been linked to a Supercars drive ahead of next week's Formula 1 QATAR AIRWAYS Australian Grand Prix.
After finishing third in a breakout campaign last year, news.com.au have reported that the Australian is potentially in line to drive Cam Waters' Tickford Mustang next Tuesday at Calder Park.
Monster Energy, naming rights backer of Waters' #6 Mustang, are also a partner of McLaren, featuring prominently on the helmet designs of both Piastri and 2025 world champion Lando Norris.
The rumours come following a viral video released in January that saw four-time world champion Max Versteppen sample a Red Bull Mustang in America, after he declared ambitions to one day drive in the Bathurst 1000.
Tickford have put F1 stars behind the wheel of their Supercars several times over the course of the decade, with Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly, Estaban Ocon, and Jack Doohan all jumping behind the wheel in 2022 and 2023.
Piastri would become the latest in a long line of F1 drivers to sample Supercars, and would join fellow Aussies Doohan and Daniel Ricciardo, who drove a Nissan in 2019.
Piastri will kick off his 2026 F1 title quest next weekend, with the Repco Supercars Championship also tackling Albert Park for the Melbourne SuperSprint from March 5-8.
