James Golding Golding cleared after investigation, keeps Sydney pole
Blanchard Racing Team investigated over breach after Sydney qualifying
Ford squad claimed shock front row lockout for 2026 opener
James Golding will line up alongside teammate Aaron Cameron after an investigation into an alleged technical breach in Boost Mobile Qualifying.
Golding beat home teammate Cameron to secure a remarkable BRT 1-2 in Boost Mobile Qualifying at Sydney Motorsport Park.
It was a fairytale result for BRT and Golding, who replaced the retired James Courtney at the Ford team, and topped Thursday’s Destination NSW Sydney Test Day.
However, it emerged after qualifying that BRT had been summoned to the stewards post-session for a technical breach, regarding rear wing angle on Golding’s car.
After a lengthy investigation, it later emerged that Golding will start from pole for Friday's race.
Courtney was disqualified from a Boost Mobile Qualifying session in Melbourne last year over a similar breach.
The 26-lap Race 1 will commence at 7:50pm local time. Fox Sports, Kayo Sports, and Sky NZ take live coverage. International fans can watch on SuperView.
