GRM purchases final Lowndes Triple Eight Camaro

Garry Rogers Motorsport’s surprise Bathurst 1000 comeback will come with an historic Supercar.
Confirmed Wednesday, GRM will return to Supercars via a wildcard at October’s Repco Bathurst 1000. Second-generation driver James Moffat will race alongside Nathan Herne, who will make his long-awaited debut in the Great Race.
As for the car, GRM will use a Chevrolet Camaro, keeping it within the GM family it campaigned with for the entirety of its life in Supercars.
The car itself is chassis 888A-068, which was last used by Craig Lowndes and Zach Bates at the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000. As such, it is the final Triple Eight Supercar raced by Lowndes, who has shifted to Team 18.
Lowndes and Bates finished 10th at Mount Panorama, before Lowndes drove it for the final time in a Sandown ride day last November.
GRM purchased the car from Triple Eight, which now runs Ford Mustangs.
888A-068 initially debuted as 888A-060 at the hands of Shane van Gisbergen at the start of 2023, before it became Triple Eight’s wildcard.
However, it was damaged in a Darwin crash for Cooper Murray. A rebuild saw the chassis renamed, given it required a new centre section.
GRM is set to test the car at Winton Motor Raceway in the weeks leading up to Bathurst, which will be held on October 8-11.
