Former Team Principal Brad Tremain to return
Tremain oversaw 2023 titles, 2024 Bathurst win
Erebus Motorsport is set to welcome back former Team Principal Brad Tremain, in a big boost to the championship winning Chevrolet team.
Revealed by CEO Barry Ryan on Thursday in Perth, Tremain will return from a stint in IndyCar to head the Chevrolet squad.
Tremain departed Erebus for a two-year run with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, having overseen Erebus’ double title triumph in 2023.
Ryan assumed Tremain’s duties when the latter departed, while also balancing not only his CEO role but also engineering duties for Jack Le Brocq last season.
“He’s knocked back on the door wanting to come back and Betty [Klimenko, team owner] and I have embraced him to lead the team again as Team Principal,” Ryan told media.
“I’m really looking forward to it. Brad was with us from 2016 to 2024, so for him to go and get that two years experience overseas has been amazing for him I’m sure.
“He’ll come back with way more experience and ready to go.”
Tremain was one of several key figures to depart Erebus in recent years, along with champion driver Brodie Kostecki, and engineers George Commins and Tom Moore, all of whom have led Dick Johnson Racing's return to form.
Ryan is still targeting being a competitive force by Bathurst, and is adamant his team can be contenders again.
“I liked ’23 better when we were competitive at every track, but those years don’t always come when you’re a team that gets poached all the time,” said Ryan, whose team completed a crucial rookie test last week.
“We can’t hide behind that. We’re a little team that got to the top and everybody tried to steal everybody off us. It’ll happen again, but we’re trying to build it back up. Hopefully we can get back up there.”
