Barry Ryan committed to navigating Erebus through tricky waters

2026 Supercars season resumes in Darwin on June 19-21
Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan insists his team will stick to its building path, as the 2023 Supercars champions grind their way through a rough path.
Erebus drivers Cooper Murray and rookie Jobe Stewart sit 22nd and 24th heading to Darwin, split by Objective Racing rookie Jackson Walls.
The two-time Bathurst winner team started Tasmania on the back foot with a Practice 1 issue for Murray, and from there, speed was hard to come by across both cars.
Speaking on Supercars' Equip Super Cool Down Lap podcast, Stewart said: "A bit average, it just feels like we're a bit out of the window with both cars.
"We pretty much threw everything at it, and we're still struggling. Me and Cooper are giving our all, and engineers and mechanics are giving their all, but it's just disappointing to not really have any speed."
Ryan maintains the team will "come back bigger and better and stronger" in Darwin, while mulling over whether the team uses an allocated test day to find answers.
"I'm not going to sugar coat it, it hasn't been a good weekend," Ryan said in a team video.
"We looked fairly promising in qualifying with Cooper's car in 11th, missing the Shootout by hundredths of a second, but the race wasn't that flash.
"We're learning, and I hate using the word building again, but we are. We've just got to keep everybody's chins up, the guys in the team are doing an amazing job just to get everything sorted.
"We're going to come back bigger and better and stronger at the next round, and consider a test day and everything we need to do to make the cars faster, the drivers faster, and the team better. We'll just press on."
Stewart didn't put the form down to recent Chevrolet parity adjustments, highlighting that drivers from rival Camaro teams managed to race towards the front.
"To be honest, we probably didn't really notice," Stewart replied, when asked about the adjustments.
"I think Anton [De Pasquale, fourth in Race 16] and Juice [Jayden Ojeda, sixth in Race 16] were pretty quick today, so I think the parity is fine to be honest, we just need to do a better job."
