BRT not keen on playing "silly games" in Finals hunt

Golding is 67 points clear of cut-off with five rounds left
Tim Blanchard has no interest in playing "silly games" with his drivers to help James Golding secure a Finals berth in 2026.
Blanchard Racing Team is one of four teams with single drivers in the top 10, along with Tickford Racing (Cam Waters), Dick Johnson Racing (Brodie Kostecki) and Team 18 (Anton De Pasquale).
While Waters, Kostecki and De Pasquale are on course to qualify, Golding remains in a battle to solidify his place in the 10, sitting just 67 points clear with rounds before the cut-off.
Golding's teammate Aaron Cameron could theoretically play a key role in helping Golding clinch his place.
Blanchard, though, wants his recruit to get there on genuine performance.
When asked by Supercars.com about the prospect of using Cameron to help Golding's Finals situation, Blanchard replied: "Our expectation, our hope, is that we just get there on car speed alone and performance,” Blanchard said.
"We don't need to look at silly games or anything like that.
"It's very easy to outsmart yourself when you start playing games like that.”
Cameron has shown impressive speed in 2026, but qualifying results haven't been backed up in the races.
The prolonged run of outs prompted criticism from ex-BRT driver James Courtney, which led to a return of serve from Cameron himself.
Blanchard believes Cameron, who has recently welcomed the mentorship of five-time Bathurst winner Steven Richards, needs support to deliver on his potential.
“He's shown lots of car speed, been a bit up and down, probably made a few mistakes,” Blanchard said of Cameron.
"There's been a few things from a team perspective we haven't done well. There's a few things I think where we haven't supported Aaron well enough.
“That's kind of part of the reason we got Richo on board to try and help with him and his progress. I definitely think the potential's there.
“We've just got to kind of nurture him or the situation a bit better."
