Unchanged Super2 field to take on streets of Townsville
Townsville the first leg of a Queensland Super2 doubleheader
Rylan Gray leads Tickford 1-2-3 in standings
23 drivers will contest Round 3 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series at the first street circuit event of the year supporting the NTI Townsville 500.
The grid remains the same as the opening two rounds of the season in Sydney and Tasmania, with 14 Holden ZB Commodores to take on nine Ford Mustang GTs.
Matt Chahda Motorsport remain on the sidelines having missed the opening two events of the season, with no official word from the team on their plans for either Super2 or a Supercars wildcard this season.
Following a history-making podium sweep in Tasmania, Tickford have three of their four cars occupying the top three positions in the drivers standings.
Fresh off his first career pole and race win in Super2, Rylan Gray has a 48 point lead over teammate and fellow Tasmanian race winner Nash Morris, with Reuben Goodall 72 points back in third.
The Tickford trio lead Eggleston Motorsport's top three drivers, with Cody Burcher the top rookie in the field in fourth, ahead of Round 1 winner Jordyn Sinni, and reigning Super2 champion Zach Bates.
Tickford also hold the lead in the Teams Championship, with Eggleston 30 points behind in second, and Triple Eight rounding out the top three 81 points back.
Last year in Townsville the pole positions were split between Jack Perkins and Bates for Blanchard Racing Team and Walkinshaw Andretti United respectively, whilst Perkins and Kai Allen (Eggleston) were the race winners.
Track action begins next Friday with two 30 minute practice sessions, before Saturday and Sunday both feature a 20 minute Boost Mobile Qualifying session and a 40 minute race.
Townsville will be followed just three weeks later by Round 4 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series at Queensland Raceway, the first round to be held in Ipswich since 2019.
Round 3 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series will be held at the NTI Townsville 2025 from July 11-13. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
