Cameron McLeod sweeps the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational
Super2 frontrunner impresses on world stage, beating Ford-backed American young guns
20-year-old put on stunning Sunday charge to complete sweep
Dunlop Super2 Series frontrunner Cameron McLeod has impressed on one of world motorsport's biggest stages at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 20-year-old was one of seven Australians competing in the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational, the debut of the one-make Ford series at the iconic endurance racing venue.
The Queenslander proved a dominant force after inheriting both pole positions following a technical breach for Ford Performance Junior Driver Robert Noaker, claiming both of the 45 minute-long races.
McLeod was leading the first race comfortably when the race was stopped due to a heavy crash for former Supercars full-timer David Wall, with McLeod declared the winner and Wall classified sixth but unable to contest Sunday's race.

However, despite starting from pole once again for the second race run in the hours before the 24 hour epic, McLeod was made to work for it after a bizarre incident.
McLeod had a near-10 second lead over the field entering a slow zone at the Dunlop Chicane, the first chicane on the circuit, however tumbled to third as he got back up to racing speed.
Noaker went past - having started from the rear of the 37-car field - as did fellow American and Ford Performance Junior Driver Sam Paley, with McLeod forced into recovery mode.
McLeod quickly blew past Paley at the second chicane along the Mulsanne Straight, and then chewed into Noaker's advantage to draw alongside on the final lap, completing an excellent recovery and weekend sweep.
McLeod took to social media in the aftermath to explain what happened, admitting that it was an unusual driver error that saw him slip back to third.
"That was awesome, another P1 for Australia!" said McLeod.
"I didn't see the green flag waved as it was in an awkward spot, lost the eight second lead and washed back to third to come back to first on the last lap."
McLeod's Le Mans successes continues what has been a breakout start to 2025, after claiming his maiden Super2 pole and race win to kick off the season at Sydney Motorsport Park.
McLeod currently sits ninth in the Super2 standings after a difficult second round in Tasmania, and will line up alongside Matt Stone Racing's Cameron Hill in the Supercars enduros at The Bend and Bathurst.
The 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series continues at the NTI Townsville 500 from July 11-13. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
