Ayrton Hodson's Race 5 brought to an abrupt halt in Turn 11 tyre barrier
Kiwi rookie laid blame on Brad Jones Racing's Cody Gillis
Gillis un-penalised following mid-race collision
Ayrton Hodson cut a frustrated figure in the Dunlop Super2 Series paddock after recording his second straight DNF of the season in Race 5 at Townsville.
After claiming a front row start for his maiden start in Sydney, it's been tough going of late for Anderson Motorsport and Hodson, who has plummeted down the order with several tough results.
The latest bit of misfortune came today, as he was wiped out in a controversial collision with Brad Jones Racing's Cody Gillis at Turn 11.
The #9 Commodore made a big lunge as Hodson left room in the #28 Mustang, however Gillis made side-to-side contact which pitched both cars into the tyre wall.
Whilst Gillis was dragged out of the tyres and continued, the Kiwi climbed out of his car and followed up his driveline failure in Tasmania with another non-scoring day.
Talking to Supercars.com post-race, the 20-year-old made no secret of what he thought of the incident, which didn't draw the attention of the stewards.
"I saw him coming, gave him room about two car lengths out of the corner, and he just drove me straight into the tyres," said Hodson.
"Unfortunately I couldn't get out, so pretty average day."
Despite interlocking wheels, the damage was only light, with bodywork damage the only major concern for the Bathurst team. Repairs were completed on the Mustang yesterday evening.
"It's just bodywork, the boys are fixing it up now. We'll chuck a few new panels on it and we should be good to go."
When asked whether he would seek out the BJR sophomore to discuss the incident further, the Kiwi was blunt in his response.
"No, and I don't plan on it either."
Qualifying for Race 6 of the Dunlop Super2 Series begins at 9:30am AEST, before the final race of the weekend begins at 1:35pm AEST.
