Safety Car rules clarified for 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000
Rules locked in following consultation with teams, drivers and officials
2025 race to commence at 11:45am AEDT on Sunday
Supercars has clarified Safety Car rules ahead of Sunday’s Repco Bathurst 1000, following consultation with teams, drivers and officials.
Safety Car regulations were tweaked ahead of the 2025 event, after changes received unanimous support at a Commission meeting.
Under the revised rules, drivers must slow significantly when passing an incident area, and will be signalled by double-waved yellow flags.
The rules have been clarified following further consultation with teams, drivers and Motorsport Australia after Thursday’s drivers briefing.
In a note to teams on Saturday afternoon, Supercars confirmed how rules will be enforced for double and single waved yellow flag scenarios.
At parts of the track where drivers are under double waved yellow conditions behind the Safety Car, they must engage their Safety Car speed limiter at the first marshal post that a double waved yellow is displayed, and slow to 80km/h.
Once they reach the next flag post where a single waved yellow is waved, they may deactivate the limiter.
Under single waved yellow conditions, cars are to adhere to existing single waved yellow rules. That is, drivers must reduce their speed, do not overtake, and be prepared to change direction.
Sunday’s 161-lap race will commence at 11:45am AEDT.
Live coverage can be found live on screens of the Seven Network, 7plus, Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
Double waved yellow flag during a Safety Car period
Drivers are to engage their Safety Car speed limiter at the first marshal post that a double waved yellow is displayed and slow to 80km/h in a safe manner. The Safety Car speed limiter may be deactivated at the next flag post a single waved yellow flag is displayed.
Single waved yellow flag during a Safety Car period
Cars are to adhere to existing single waved yellow rules (2025 Supercars Operations Manual, Div B, Schedule B3 ‘Signalling’ – Rule 4.2). This will be policed in the same manner that single waved yellows were policed at Tailem Bend.
