We'll look back on season 2025 as an all-time great, and for good reason.
Drag race finishes. Collisions. Penalties. Drama. Unexpected winners. This year had it all.
Right from the outset, Sydney delivered one of the closest finishes of all time, before Tasmania nearly usurped it just three rounds later.
Then, Mount Panorama brought more twists and turns than we could ever have expected, with this year's Great Race already regarded as one of, if not the best, Bathurst 1000s ever.
Of the 33 completed races, which caught our attention most?
Honourable mentions
The Taupō, Perth and Ipswich finales were all bangers. Matt Payne climbed over Cameron Hill in New Zealand, which came after a wild start that saw Ryan Wood escort Brodie Kostecki onto the grass. In Perth, Broc Feeney denied Matt Payne in an energised finish that saw Wood and James Golding collide. Then, a mid-race Safety Car in Ipswich turned the race on its head, forcing Feeney to charge through the field. Who could forget Will Brown's run to second in the Sandown opener, which came after a thrilling battle with Wood? Then, there's Cameron Hill, who denied the charging Bulls to win in Melbourne.
5) Absorbing Adelaide
Adelaide Race 33
Aaron Cameron's move on Broc Feeney at the start of the penultimate race of the season was just the start of what was a crazy day. Chaz Mostert hit the wall and still raced from 12th to second. Will Brown and Kai Allen couldn't leave each other alone. Even Austin Cindric got in on the act, being side-swiped by Mostert. And that move by Feeney on Ryan Wood... clutch.
4) Everything to play for
Gold Coast Race 29
Chaz Mostert versus Broc Feeney was the story of The Finals, and their battle in the closing laps of the Gold Coast finale was the stuff of beauty. Anton De Pasquale punted James Courtney (and himself out of The Finals), setting the scene for a nail biting sprint to the finish, where the fireworks were lit between Feeney and Mostert, while the battle for the minors was equally enthralling.
3) Matt's magic
Tasmania Race 13
Matt Payne's 'tyre whisperer' talents were on show in a thrilling Tasmania finale, which saw Penrite Racing pull off a strategy masterclass. Payne still had to do the job, and Broc Feeney was charging home. You couldn't script it better than Feeney going underneath Payne out of the final corner. That finish... wow.
2) "Oh my goodness!"
Sydney Race 2
Neil Crompton called Broc Feeney home to the chequered flag, before Cam Waters stole the show. What happened on that balmy Sydney night on February 21 was, well, ridiculous. Waters caught Feeney, turned him, tried to redress, and allowed Will Brown into the fight. Supercars 2025 arrived, and in the most dramatic way possible.
1) A really, really great, probably best ever Great Race
Bathurst Race 27
When Matt Payne is old and grey, he may catch himself: "Did I really win that race?"
It was that sort of day on the Mountain. It started in the dry, and ended in the mist. In between, heavy-hitters crashed out, there were incidents galore, and Chaz Mostert even had a beer. Did we mention Brodie Kostecki passed Cam Waters around the outside at The Cutting as they pulled their best slip and slide impression with the rain beginning to fall? A phenomenal race got the finish no one saw coming, with Payne sliding through after James Golding collided with Cooper Murray.
