Who'd have thought the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship would feature two of the top three closest finishes ever? Well, that's what happened!
There were nine competitive races decided by less than a second, and two were decided by less than 0.1s. It was a crazy year, and looking at the below tables, one driver balanced some narrow defeats with some crushing wins.
Broc Feeney lost three races by a combined 0.607s. In Sydney, he was pipped by Cam Waters in an all-time drag race, while he was unable to dislodge Matt Payne in a Tasmania thriller.
Closest competitive finishes in 2025
Event | Race | Winner | Second | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Sydney | 2 | Waters | Feeney | 0.031s |
Tasmania | 13 | Payne | Feeney | 0.055s |
AGP | 6 | Brown | Feeney | 0.521s |
Perth | 16 | Feeney | Payne | 0.567s |
AGP | 5 | Hill | Percat | 0.574s |
Feeney got revenge over Payne in Perth, having also been pipped by teammate Will Brown in Melbourne. Also at the Grand Prix, Cameron Hill closed out a stunning Matt Stone Racing 1-2 by 0.574s.
Chaz Mostert also defeated Feeney by 0.575s in the Gold Coast finale, while Ryan Wood staved off Brown by 0.613s to win his first race in Perth.
The Repco Bathurst 1000 was also won by the official victory margin of 0.959s, with Matt Payne/Garth Tander victorious over David Reynolds/Lee Holdsworth. James Golding crossed the line first, but a five-second penalty dropped him back.
What about the biggest victory margins?
Event | Race | Winner | Second | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Adelaide | 33 | Feeney | Mostert | 16.873s |
Sydney | 1 | Waters | Mostert | 16.848s |
Ipswich | 25 | Feeney | Waters | 8.809s |
Darwin | 19 | Feeney | Allen | 7.979s |
Tasmania | 11 | Feeney | Randle | 7.938s |
Waters opened the season with a flogging in Sydney, helped by a puncture for Feeney.
Feeney, though, was different gravy throughout 2025. Ryan Wood let Chaz Mostert through at the final corner in the Saturday Adelaide race, allowing Feeney to win by 16.873s, the biggest winning margin of the year.
He also put seven-plus second margins on in Ipswich, Darwin and Tasmania.
