Will Davison will race second new DJR Mustang in five rounds this year
Davison began 2025 in PACE Innovations-built chassis, now in Erebus chassis
Brodie Kostecki seventh, Davison 14th in points heading to Perth
Shaking down two brand-new Supercars in the space of five rounds has proven a unique experience for Will Davison, who wants to breathe new life into his 2025 campaign in Perth.
The Dick Johnson Racing veteran got behind the wheel of his new Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang at Queensland Raceway last week.
The new car has an Erebus Motorsport-chassis, bringing it in line with the sister Mustang of Brodie Kostecki. Davison is set to debut the new Ford at the upcoming Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 on June 6-8.
It comes after Davison contested the first four rounds in a PACE Innovations-built chassis.
A veteran of 261 rounds and 583 races, the opportunity to shake down two new cars in a short timeframe wasn’t lost on Davison.
“It's obviously been a big year for the team,” Davison said.
"To be honest, it’s the first time in my career I've actually shaken down two cars in the space of five rounds.
"We debuted a new car at the start of the season, but the build spec of this is slightly different, on par with the chassis Brodie debuted at the start of the year, and on par with a lot of the changes that have been undertaken at the team this year.
“So, now knowing they're both built identically if you like, it's really important that we can correlate perfectly between the two cars.”
Davison insisted the new car may not be a silver bullet to success, but he was determined to right the wrongs of DJR’s Tasmania, where Kostecki and Davison were 23rd and 24th for the round.
“I'm excited, very thankful to the team,” he added.
"Car looks amazing, so we've gotta make sure we use it in Perth and bounce back after what was a difficult last round in Tasmania."
Tickets for the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440, on June 6-8, are on sale now.
