DJR Team Principal Dr Ryan Story to miss Sydney season opener
Story recovering from brief illness, will be absent from Round 1
DJR launched 2025 season, new-look livery last week
The Shell V-Power Racing Team will operate without its team boss for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship opener, with Dr Ryan Story to miss Round 1.
Dick Johnson Racing Team Principal Story will be absent from the Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round as he recovers from illness.
Story recently travelled home from the United States, and briefly hospitalised for treatment, and will miss Sydney as he recovers.
In a DJR statement issued Monday, Story was “in good spirits” and is set to return to team duties in due course.
The statement reads:
The Shell V-Power Racing Team wishes to advise that Team Principal, Dr Ryan Story AM, will not attend the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship.
Dr Story was recently in America where he unfortunately picked up a virus and since returning to Australia was briefly hospitalised for treatment.
Dr Story remains in good spirits and plans to return to the team’s Stapylton HQ as soon as his health allows.
Shell V-Power Racing Team Co-Owner Brett Ralph, CEO David Noble and Team Manager Mark Fenning will be the team’s key contacts at the opening round, as well as the team’s upcoming shakedown and test days.
Story returned to the Team Principal role ahead of the 2024 season.
DJR launched its new livery last week, with star recruit Brodie Kostecki also unveiled to fans and media.
