Dick Johnson Racing CEO David Noble is remaining pragmatic despite a "challenging" Tasmania weekend that saw both Shell V-Power Racing Team Fords at the bottom.

Brodie Kostecki and Will Davison were 23rd and 24th for the round, with both cars disqualified from Saturday's race over a technical infringement.

Davison was turned around twice on a weekend he was undone by traffic in qualifying, while Kostecki's Sunday came to a dramatic end when he collided with Brad Jones Racing's Bryce Fullwood.

Even without the Saturday exclusions, Kostecki would have been 18th for the round, and Davison 21st. The team, meanwhile, would have been just one point ahead of Blanchard Racing Team.

It was a barely-believable fall from grace after Taupō, where both drivers claimed podiums and Kostecki scooped two of three pole positions.

While there are still four rounds left in the Repco Sprint Cup, Kostecki is just 57 points ahead of 10th in seventh overall, with Davison 98 points down in 14th.

Noble said after New Zealand that the team had to focus on itself, and followed a similar line after Tasmania.

“A very challenging weekend, but in sport the progression is never linear," Noble said in a Ford Performance release.

“At certain times through the weekend we had some genuinely good car speed. That was positive and very encouraging.

“Now we have head back and pull things apart in the debrief ahead of Perth. I don’t think it’s complicated. There is no need to over-complicate a review from the weekend.

"It just didn’t go our way, so we need to be diligent, reset, and go again."

DJR dropped to fifth in the teams' championship heading to Perth on June 6-8. Tickets on sale.
