David Reynolds leads a strong Practice 2 for Team 18

Reynolds' future at Team 18 uncertain after difficult opening to 2025
David Reynolds' turnaround after a nightmare opening to his 2025 Repco Supercars Championship season has continued with another strong showing in Friday practice at the betr Darwin Triple Crown.
Reynolds ended the day fourth in the TRADIE Energy Camaro, just over a tenth of a second behind Friday pacesetter Andre Heimgartner.
Team 18 teammate Anton De Pasquale ended the day seventh in the Dewalt Camaro, continuing the team's trend of strong performances at Hidden Valley Raceway.
It was a strong turnaround for both of Charlie Schwerkolt's Camaros, which ended Practice 1 well outside of the top 10 in the mid-teens.
"This morning we rolled out, and we were hating our cars, they were so hard to drive," said Reynolds.
"We had every problem known to man, braking stability, mid-corner understeer, entry instability, front locks, everything. It was all going on, so we had a really good think over the hour and a half we got.
"We came up with some changes, and they obviously worked because we were up the front of timesheets. It's a positive sign for the weekend."
Reynolds has crept his way closer to the front of the field over the last two events in Tasmania and Perth, having endured a torrid start to his campaign that saw a complete rebuild of his #20 Camaro to find performance.
Reynolds is 18th in the standings entering the weekend, and is out of contract at the end of the season, with rumours swirling surrounding the future of the 39-year-old at Team 18.
The likes of De Pasquale's Enduro Cup co-driver and reigning Carrera Cup champion Harri Jones and Tickford wildcard Rylan Gray have been linked to the squad should changes be made, with De Pasquale locked in.
However, Reynolds cut a positive figure post-Practice 2, and even made a trademark quip when suggesting there was more performance to find for qualifying tomorrow.
"We made steps, but it's still not perfect. That was a case of we'll go out, do the lap, and see what it was, and that's what it was," Reynolds said.
"There's still probably more in the car, and we need to extract that overnight, so we'll have a look at the data and all the numbers and everything which I don't understand, I'm not that smart.
"These guys, they do the hard work, I just do the easy part at the end and take all the glory."
Boost Mobile Qualifying for Race 17 of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship begins at 8:35am ACST/9:05am AEST tomorrow morning, immediately followed by Race 18 Qualifying.
