Cameron Hill, Bryce Fullwood and James Golding all announced exits this week
Hill announced deal with Brad Jones Racing, Golding with Blanchard Racing Team
Hill, Golding both lead drivers for current teams in championship standings
A big week of Supercars silly season announcements has caught many by surprise, including Team 18 driver David Reynolds.
In a headline-making 72-hour period, Cameron Hill (Matt Stone Racing), Bryce Fullwood (Brad Jones Racing) and James Golding (PremiAir Racing) all announced their respective exits.
Hill was quickly named as Fullwood's replacement at BJR, while Golding was later confirmed at Blanchard Racing Team in the place of the retiring James Courtney.
It kicked off what is set to be a silly season full of surprises, with Hill and Golding the spearheads of their current teams.
While Hill had long been linked to BJR and Toyota, the Canberran did take MSR's only win of the season at the Grand Prix in March, and is in the frame to reach The Finals. Golding, meanwhile, claimed PremiAir's first pole and podium last year en route to a career (and team) best of seventh in the championship.
Hill insisted a "big part" of joining BJR was the Toyota element, while Golding insisted he needed to take the "next step" which he said was "best for my long-term future."
“The Cam Hill one was the most surprising,” Reynolds told Supercars.com when asked about the moves.
“Obviously MSR, they have reasonable pace and reasonable cars, so not sure why he would want to leave that. He must have thought he had a better opportunity with Brad, and I know Brad runs a good show.
“I heard Jimmy was sort of happening in the background, but once again, I thought PremiAir run a good team and a good show. But, so does Tim [Blanchard].
“People move around to try and experience a different thing, I suppose. So, good luck to them.”
There could be more moves to come, with off-contract Erebus Motorsport driver Jack Le Brocq recently linked to a move back to MSR.
At the time of publication, 17 of 24 seats have been announced for 2026, with seats officially remaining at Team 18, MSR, BJR, PremiAir, Erebus, and BRT.
The Team 18 seat in question is Reynolds's. However, speculation around his future has quietened in recent weeks, pointing towards Team 18 picking up an option on the 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner.
However, when asked about 2026 Reynolds gave little away, adding: “It's always my intention is to go around again. We'll just have to wait and see."
The 2025 season resumes at the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 9-12. Tickets are on sale now.
