Bryce Fullwood confirmed as Andre Heimgartner's co-driver
Fullwood raced full-time for Brad Jones Racing for four years
Darwin native will drive Toyota at test on August 25
The 2026 enduros will be a markedly different prospect for Bryce Fullwood, who has finally been confirmed in Brad Jones Racing's co-driver line-up.
The Darwin native will partner Andre Heimgartner in what bodes to be one of the most intriguing pairings on the 2026 Ryco Enduro Cup grid.
The likes of Todd Hazelwood, Scott Pye and Mark Winterbottom have all recently transitioned into co-driving with aplomb, offering hope to Fullwood that he can do the same.
Heimgartner himself is chasing both a maiden Bathurst victory and a Finals berth, and fell agonisingly close of both last October in a dramatic Great Race.
Fullwood, meanwhile, was BJR's highest finishing driver at Mount Panorama in 2022 and 2023, and finished fifth in 2021 with Walkinshaw Andretti United and Warren Luff.
“Teaming up with Andre is a great opportunity. After the run he had at Bathurst last year in some pretty wild conditions, there was plenty to be encouraged by," Fullwood said.
"Going from team-mates to co-drivers is an interesting change, but we’ve had a good working relationship over the last few years, so I’m looking forward to getting on track at the test day and then heading to The Bend in the R&J Batteries colours.”
The new Toyota GR Supra offers a new challenge for the 28-year-old, who raced General Motors machinery in six of his seven Bathurst starts, save for a Nissan drive in 2019, also with Heimgartner.
Reuniting with BJR, Heimgartner and engineer Phil Keed ensures Fullwood has more familiarity than not, but getting up to speed in the Supra remains a priority.
“I’m really looking forward to getting into the Supra. From what I’ve seen from the outside, it looks pretty cool, so it’ll be great to finally get behind the wheel and see what it’s like. I’m keen to get stuck into the test day and start getting comfortable in the car," Fullwood said.
“Coming back into the team feels pretty natural. Obviously, the crew is a bit different on this side of the garage, but I’m back working with Phil, which is great.
"We’ve worked together quite a lot over the years and have a really good relationship, so it’s nice to have that familiarity coming back into the team."
Fullwood will steer Heimgartner's #8 R&J Batteries Toyota for the first time at the pre-enduro test day at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday August 25, before the AirTouch 500 at The Bend on September 11-13.
