Chaz Mostert and Bathurst 12 Hour winner Kelvin van der Linde have poked fun their their epic battle in Sunday's race, which saw the Supercars star show the BMW star the middle finger.

Van der Linde combined with brother Sheldon and Augusto Farfus to win Sundays' action-packed Meguiar's Bathurst 12 Hour for Team WRT BMW.

Mostert emerged as a thorn in the side of the South African's run to victory, with the Supercars star hounding the BMW in the final hour despite facing an impending fuel stop.

After forcing van der Linde into a number of defensive moves, Mostert sent his Arise Ferrari down the inside at The Chase in the final half hour, making a big statement in the face of impending defeat.

As he exited The Chase in the lead, Mostert threw a middle finger salute van der Linde's way, before making his final stop and finishing fourth.

When asked after the race about Mostert's salute, van der Linde joked, saying: "I didn't really think that it was particularly dirty. In the end it worked out. I don't know why. Maybe he was showing me he finally got P1.”

In the days after the race, Mostert shared the overtake to his personal Instagram, jokingly writing: "Just had to show my friend [van der Linde] how we do it down under. Loved our battle and congrats on the win."

In a sign of the camaraderie of the two star drivers, van der Linde commented on the video, saying: "Every year I come back to race you I learn more about the Aussie language, sensational."

In response, Mostert wrote: "You’re welcome for the education."

The win was BMW's first in the Bathurst 12 Hour's GT3 era, and WRT's first since 2018.

Mostert will commence his 2025 Repco Supercars Chhampionship campaign in Sydney on February 21-23. Tickets are on sale now.
