"We made a lot of changes. We rolled out not too bad, there was just a few things we didn't like that we were trying to get on top of," said Brown, who is one of 13 drivers making his Supercars debut at Queensland Raceway.
"We made a few changes that worked, a few that didn't, and we put it all together for the last run there and put a really good lap together.
"I don't run a time gain/loss, so I didn't know the second lap was going to be faster, but I just thought I'll keep up it and see what I come up with, and ended up first."

At the 19-minute mark, PremiAir Racing's James Golding soared to second with a 1:09.1477s, with Bates jumping to 10th before kicking up dirt at the exit of Turn 2.
After being left in the garage with a starter motor problem, Cameron returned and impressed with consecutive fast laps to rise to second.
