Jack Le Brocq "felt like a pinball" in wild Ipswich crash
Erebus driver one of several cars damaged in lap 1, Turn 1 crash
Le Brocq now 199 points from provisional Finals berth
Jack Le Brocq "felt like a pinball" in the wild start to Race 24 at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440, with the Erebus Motorsport taken out of contention just metres into the race.
Le Brocq's teammate Cooper Murray was pinched by Thomas Randle and Matt Payne off the line, and after falling back to the pack, the #99 Erebus Camaro hit Aaron Cameron.
Several cars, including Le Brocq, had nowhere to go as Cameron spun off. Le Brocq was hit from behind by Andre Heimgartner as the field checked up, before copping another hit from Brodie Kostecki.
Le Brocq's #9 Tyrepower Camaro suffered damage to all four corners, with the rear wing also ripped off. Le Brocq and Evans weren't classified, while Kostecki, Cameron and Murray were also taken out of contention.
For Brad Jones Racing's Evans, it was a fifth DNF in 10 his last eight starts.
The DNF dropped Le Brocq to 16th in the standings, with the two-time race winner now 199 points from a provisional Finals berth.
" No chance to get it out, basically just nowhere to go," Le Brocq told Supercars.com.
"They concertinaed in front, everyone was running into each other. Unfortunately we got drilled from behind and that was game over. Just got sort of felt like a pinball. It's a shame."
Le Brocq qualified 17th and 21st for the day's two races, with the #9 dropping to 19th in Race 23.
"We haven't had a great day, unfortunately," Le Brocq added.
"We had a bit of a swing on set-up. We changed a few things this morning, but it didn't work out for us. Yeah, it's been a rough one. Got to regroup, the boys will fix it up tonight and go again tomorrow."
Supercars return to the track on Sunday for Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:20am AEST, followed by the Top Ten Shootout (11:40pm AEST) and Race 25 (3:15pm AEST).
Live coverage commences on Foxtel/Kayo from 8:00am AEST.
