Cameron McLeod announced in Ford Racing Driver Development Team
21-year-old joins global development pathway after starring on global scene in 2025
McLeod swept inaugural Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational
Rising star Cameron McLeod has been rewarded for a breakout season in 2025, being signed to the Ford Racing Driver Development Team.
Announced this morning Australian time during Ford Racing's 2026 season launch event in Detroit, the 21-year-old was announced as part of a 14-strong contingent of young drivers from around the world.
It was a breakthrough year in the Dunlop Super2 Series last year for McLeod, dominating the opening race of the year in Sydney from pole, and claiming a further four top five finishes on route to seventh in the standings.
McLeod also finished fifth in the Repco Bathurst 1000 alongside Cameron Hill in a Matt Stone Racing Camaro.
However, it was overseas where McLeod turned the most heads, dominating the inaugural running of the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational to win both races from pole position.
In doing so, he beat Americans Robert Noaker and Sam Paley, who are now alongside McLeod in Ford's junior ranks having been inaugural members of the program last year.
The junior program aims to give young drivers the chance to progress towards opportunities to drive in Ford's global GT3 Mustang program. Ford will also enter the Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship next year with a V8-powered prototype.
The likes of 2010 Le Mans 24 Hour winner - and current Ford GT3 ace - Mike Rockenfeller and three-time World Touring Car Championship winner Andy Priaulx are driver mentors in the program.
The Queenslander is yet to announce any racing programs for 2026, including in both Super2 and any potential Supercars co-drives.
The 2026 Dunlop Super2 Series will commence at the Sydney 500 from February 20-22.
