Cody Burcher claims first career Super2 pole in debut weekend
Eggleston teammate Jordyn Sinni achieves career-best front row start
Yesterday's race winner Cameron McLeod 10th
Cody Burcher has claimed his first career Boost Mobile Pole Award in the Dunlop Super2 Series, leading an all-Eggleston Motorsport front row for Race 2 of the season.
Burcher was two tenth under Cameron McLeod's Saturday pole time, setting a 1:31.6540s to secure his first career pole position in a frantic session.
“I made a mistake yesterday on my fastest lap which would’ve put us on pole, and lost the lap,” Burcher said.
“The goal today was to go out and do the same thing. It was nice. I didn’t have a great first run, but the second run was pretty good.
“Super happy, can’t thank the Eggleston team enough and all my sponsors for getting me here, and my family as well."
It was also a career-best qualifying performance for teammate Jordyn Sinni, who will start from the front row for the first time in his Super2 career as he enters his third season in the category.
Sinni looked set to start from pole position, until Burcher pipped his time by just 0.0919s, both Eggleston Commodores knocking the Triple Eight Commodores off the front row.
Gold Coast teenager Ben Gomersall continued his impressive debut qualifying in third, with local teammate Jackson Walls starting alongside just 0.0150s behind the sister car.
Rylan Gray will start from fifth in the first of the Tickford Autosport cars, in a case of what could've been for the Campbellfield outfit.
At one stage, all four Tickford entries filled the top four positions, led by main game wildcard entrant Lochie Dalton and new recruit Reuben Goodall.
However, the Mustangs couldn't replicate the pace of their opening runs, with Dalton ending up ninth, Goodall 12th, and Nash Morris 15th after making a mistake during his final run.
Alongside Gray is Brad Vaughan, who bounced back from a torrid first day with Brad Jones Racing where he finished 22nd in Race 1, to qualify sixth just 0.3570s off pole.
The top 10 was rounded out by Zach Bates, Elliott Cleary, Dalton, and yesterday's grand chelem winner Cameron McLeod.
Jarrod Hughes' difficult weekend continued after qualifying in 13th, whilst yesterday's runner-up Jobe Stewart was left mired in 19th, with Saturday front row starter Ayrton Hodson in 20th.
Race 2 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series will begin at 2:40pm local time.
