Aaron Cameron will make his Dunlop Super2 Series debut at next weekend’s Penrite Oil Sandown 500 with SCHRAMM Group Racing.

Cameron is one of the promising young talents in Australian motorsport, and currently leads the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship.

The Victorian is also third in TCR Australia this season and is a five-time race winner, and also took part in the Top Ten Shootout at this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

Cameron, who also represented Australia at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games in France, will drive a former Kelly-built, Grove Racing Ford Mustang.

He will debut in Super2 with backing from Queensland-based traffic management company SCHRAMM Group, with EFS 4x4 Accessories also sponsoring the entry.

As part of SCHRAMM's relationship with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 10 per cent of the sponsorship will be donated by the Group.

Late in 2021, Cameron completed an Evaluation Test Day with Walkinshaw Andretti United at Winton. He will test his SCRAMM Ford on Wednesday, also at Winton.

"It’s great to be able to get a start in Super2,” Cameron said.

“This is something I didn't think was going to be possible after being so close for the last couple of years.

"We have been working really hard to get something together for the second half of the season and I hope Sandown is the start of a permanent spot on the Super2 grid.

“I couldn't think of a better track to debut at than Sandown. It's just around the corner from home and I'm sure I will have plenty of family and friends there to support me.

"I'm sure the Melbourne weather will also throw us some curveballs during the weekend as usual, but I’m ready for it.

“There are no big expectations results-wise, there isn’t much time to test in the car prior to the round so we will still be learning on the fly during the weekend. It’s more about learning the car, the tyre and staying out of trouble.

“I just want to get through Sandown for now, then we will reassess for the final two rounds at Bathurst and Adelaide. Once we start doing away races the expenses add up and we need to ensure it makes financial sense.

“Without the SCHRAMM Group first committing its support to my debut at Sandown, this would not have been possible and a major thank you to all my other backers for making this happen.”

David Schramm, SCHRAMM Group Managing Director, added: “I learned of Aaron through Brett Peters, who is providing Aaron with some mentoring.

“I saw Aaron’s qualifying at Bathurst 12 hour and said to myself ‘this guy has talent’. Since then, I have been following Aaron’s progress in S5000 and TCR, which has been consistently at the front of the pack.

“The venture into Super 2 is essentially providing an opportunity for Aaron to have a go.

“We wish Aaron well on his journey into Super 2 and I am looking forward to watching him compete at Sandown.”

The Dunlop Series will support the Repco Supercars Championship at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 will be held on September 15-17.
