The dawn of a new Supercars season also brings about the start of a brand new campaign in the Dunlop Super2 Series.
The opening development series round is little more than a month away, but there is still a lot to play out before the entry list is finalised for Round 1.
2025 was further proof of the Super2 Series' standing as one of the premier pathway categories in motorsport, with four drivers progressing to the Repco Supercars Championship.
What that leaves is a 2026 title fight that could be anyone's for the taking. But, there are still plenty more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place before the season begins.
Calendar
Confirmed last year, the Dunlop Series will return at six main game Supercars events in 2026. An appearance at the Sydney 500 will once again open the season, before a maiden trip to the betr Darwin Triple Crown for Round 2.
A return over the Nullarbor to Perth will mark Round 3, before a back-ended calendar sees three of the final four rounds host Super2 rounds, namely Bathurst, Sandown, and Adelaide.

Confirmed drivers
So far there are seven confirmed entries in for the 2026 Dunlop Super2 Series.
The first driver locked in for the new year was Ryan Tomsett, with the young Sydneysider having been secured at Anderson Motorsport on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025 season.
His former teammate Ayrton Hodson has landed at Matt Stone Racing's revived Super2 program, with former FIA Formula 3 driver Tommy Smith also confirmed as part of MSR's lineup.
2025 Super2 teams' champions Tickford have also locked down their four drivers. Reuben Goodall and Nash Morris remain with the squad, whilst 2025 rookie of the year Ben Gomersall and Campbell Logan are new additions.
Who is moving up to the main game?

Four drivers have earned promotions to the main game after their 2025 Dunlop Series campaigns.
Reigning champion Rylan Gray secured a plum drive at the Shell V-Power Racing Team, whilst 2024 champion Zach Bates also steps up full-time with MSR.
After three Dunlop Series season in the Erebus Academy pipeline, Jobe Stewart has also been promoted to their main game operation, whilst rookie of the year contender Jackson Walls joins SCT Motorsport after his sole season in the development series.
What's to come?
Expect a flurry of driver news to come in the next few weeks, with the field currently tipped to exceed 20 cars.
Matt Stone Racing have teased further announcements for their program, potentially leaving the door open to Alice Buckley to make her Super2 debut following an evaluation day with the team in December.
Likewise, Anderson Motorsport are also yet to lock in a replacement for Hodson.
Main game squads Blanchard Racing Team and Brad Jones Racing are also in line to return, with BJR currently building up the chassis crashed by Andre Heimgartner in 2022 at The Bend for development series duties.
Eggleston Motorsport look likely to keep Cody Burcher, Elliott Cleary, and Bradi Owen into the new season, whilst Courtney Prince and Kiwi open-wheel star Liam Sceats both tested with the team late last year. The team ran five cars last year, and four for most of 2024.
Super2 stalwarts Image Racing are also firming to be on the grid, however changes have occurred behind the scenes with Erebus cutting ties. Bailey Sweeny, who drove a Super3 Image Commodore at Bathurst in 2024, has been linked with a switch from BRT to Image.
Masterton Motorsports have indicated their interest in finding a young driver to drive the ex-Tickford Mustang that was piloted by Jonathon Webb at Bathurst last year, whilst Matt Chahda Motorsport have a Commodore and Mustang at their disposal, but missed the entirety of last season.
Triple Eight and Walkinshaw closed down their Super2 operations after Adelaide, focussing on their Supercars homologation duties with Ford and Toyota respectively. Kelly Racing have also placed both of their Mustangs for sale, whilst 99motorsport's planned debut with two ex-Triple Eight Commodores has been put on ice.
