Rockstar Returns with BJR at Bathurst

Dunlop series rookie Macauley Jones will make his Mt Panorama touring car debut this weekend with new title sponsor Rockstar Energy.

Macauley, son of V8 Supercar team owner Brad Jones, will be competing in just his third Dunlop series event in the Rockstar Racing VEII Commodore following an impressive debut in Townsville and solid second round at Ipswich.

"Having Rockstar with us is awesome and the car looks sensational," Macauley said.

"It's a little bit daunting facing my first Bathurst in a touring car but it's going to be a great experience and I'm really looking forward to it."

This year's Dunlop Series Bathurst round will focus on a single 250km race on Saturday, with the option of co-drivers - something that the team considered but ultimately decided against.

"We spoke about it a lot but my dad and I made the decision that the more laps you can do on that track the better, so we've got the chance to do a lot of laps and we're going to take it," he said.

Team owner Brad Jones welcomed Rockstar Energy to the team.

"It's fantastic to have such an iconic brand involved in Macauley's V8 Supercar Bathurst debut," he said.

"It's an exciting, cool, brand and it's great to have them on board."

Brad was impressed with Macauley's Dunlop Series debut in July.

"Macca's first round was at Townsville where he finished 10th in the first race and, to be honest, my target for him this year was to get in the top 10.

"There are at least 20 good peddlers in the Dunlop Series so I was really pleased with that."

In the following round at Ipswich, Macauley was closer in speed to the frontrunners and now heads to Mount Panorama for his greatest challenge yet.

"Bathurst is going to be really interesting for him, it's totally unforgiving if you make a mistake," Bradsaid.

"I've been trying to guide him, he needs to be smooth, competitive, and stay out of trouble.

"We're both very excited about him going up there, to go through the emotions of my nephew competing and now with my son - it's something I'm really looking forward to.

The Rockstar Racing Commodore will hit the track for first practice on Thursday before qualifying on Friday and the 250km race on Saturday.
