Boost Mobile founder Peter Adderton has vowed to back a 2025 Bathurst wildcard for Richie Stanaway should the Kiwi miss out on a full-drive for next season.

Stanaway and Penrite Racing will part ways at the end of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

Stanaway, 32, won last year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 with Shane van Gisbergen and Triple Eight, 12 months after a triumphant return in a Boost Mobile-backed wildcard.

In plans initially announced for 2021, but delayed to 2022, Stanaway partnered with countryman Greg Murphy for the Great Race, with both drivers coaxed out of retirement.

While it was a final start for Murphy, it renewed hope for a comeback for Stanaway from Adderton, which eventuated over the next 18 months.

However, should Stanaway fail to secure a 2025 drive, Adderton has stated he will help put the Kiwi on the Bathurst grid, as he did in 2022.

"All those people who think I am wrong about Richie I will as I always have put my money where my mouth is,” Adderton posted to social media.

“If he doesn't get another full time drive I will put him in a Boost Mobile Australia wildcard next year with the sole purpose to show he has what it takes in the right team environment.

“Will see if I can't get another overseas Kiwi to partner with him at the Bathurst 1000 in 2025.”

The final line suggests Adderton would attempt to replicate the Murphy move by putting another international New Zealander alongside Stanaway.

Stanaway has five more rounds with Penrite Racing, beginning with the upcoming NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
