Lindbom Looking to Bounce Back
Rising Dunlop Series star Kristian Lindbom is hoping to put a tough weekend at Townsville behind him and get his debut season back on track when the series heads to Queensland Raceway for the Coates Hire Ipswich 360, the fourth Dunlop Series event, beginning on Friday.
The Evans Motorsport Group driver recorded fifth, sixth and tenth place finishes in the three respective races at the last event, the Sucrogen Townsville 400, but was excluded from race three along with Chris Pither, Andre Heimgartner, Cameron Waters and Geoff Emery for a Parc Fermé infringement.
Lindbom feels exclusion has prompted the team to take a look at the bigger picture and has found plenty of strong points heading into the second half of the year.
“It is what it is,” Lindbom said.
“It’s not about how you perform when you are doing well. It’s about how you get back up when you aren’t doing well.
“We had a good look at every aspect of the weekend. We made a few mistakes in set-up at Townsville and I made mistakes as a driver but I feel like it’s made us a lot stronger as a team and we won’t be making the same errors again.”
Lindbom currently sits fifth in the points on 235 – just six points off fourth placed Daniel Gaunt and 16 points off third placed George Miedecke.
The 23-year old has his sights firmly set on a top three finish in 2013 and is prepared for a tough battle as the Championship heats up.
“The front three or four guys are really quick and this year there are a lot of good drivers in quality cars,” Lindbom told v8supercars.com.au.
“I think there’s positive and negatives heading into this weekend.
“It’s the test track for some of our biggest competition like Ash Walsh and Steve Owen so they will be really tough to beat there.
“It’s good to be going back to a proper circuit. I’ve done laps of Queensland in other categories such as Formula Ford so I know the track and it’s much easier learning a car when there isn’t concrete surrounding you like at street circuits.”
