Super2 debutant tests ex-Stone Brothers Ford Falcon
Rossi Johnson lapped FG Ford at Winton Motor Raceway
Territorian to make Super2 debut in Darwin in June
Rossi Johnson has tested an ex-Stone Brothers Racing Ford Falcon ahead of his DUNLOP Super2 Series debut.
Revealed in recent weeks, the Territorian will race a Holden ZB Commodore at the Darwin and Adelaide rounds this year.
Johnson stepped into the Image Racing-owned FG Ford at Winton Motor Raceway last week to come to grips with Supercar machinery.
The 24-year-old will rise to Super2 with Apogee Motorsport, which also fields entries in V8 SuperUtes, the Toyota GR Cup and Scholarship Series.

Last week’s test was an extra chance for Johnson to learn the V8. Category testing restrictions limit Johnson to a single test aboard the ZB Commodore.
The Falcon was presented as raced by Tim Slade in 2012, and was one of SBR’s last Fords built in the Project Blueprint era before the team transformed into Erebus Motorsport from 2013.
Long-time Image-affiliated driver Jordan Boys mentored Johnson on the day.
“The biggest challenge is just really learning how far I can lean on the tyre,” Johnson said of the V8 in a social media video.
“There’s a huge difference between the tyre we run in the Ute [and] the tyre on the Supercar, being a slick.
“It’s just seeing how I can jump on the throttle, stop it under brakes and just lean on that tyre.”
Johnson’s Super2 debut will take place on June 19-21 in his native Darwin.
