James Golding says he already feels comfortable after just one weekend in PremiAir Racing colours.
Golding recorded finishes of 23rd and 21st at the NTI Townsville 500.
The Victorian was drafted in to replace Garry Jacobson in the team’s Subway Commodore.
Golding has the full backing of team boss Peter Xiberras to learn on the run.
The 26-year-old finished both races and kept a clean nose aside from an unfortunate start-line clash on Saturday.
"The main thing this weekend for us was finishing all the sessions, finishing all the laps, and learning, and we did that,” Golding said.
"We ended up making a couple of positions too.
"Obviously, you would always like to be further up, but we can build on what we have learnt this weekend.
“Particularly myself with what I have learnt about the cars and with getting back into the swing of things of being back full-time again.”
Golding was unlucky on Saturday, with James Courtney veering into the path of the #31 Commodore.
He sustained damage and limped back to the pits, before he returned and finished 23rd.
Courtney was penalised over the incident.
Come Sunday, and Golding negated the first-lap chaos en route to 21st.
He will return to the seat of the car for the OTR SuperSprint later this month, and believes he already has a solid widget to work with.
"I am really looking forward to going through everything and seeing what we can do better,” he said.
"Honestly, I really enjoyed the weekend… the results might not have been there but working with the team is awesome.
"I felt pretty comfortable straight away with everything.
“Now is the time to go through everything and see where we can improve and move forward."
