Broc Feeney has scored his first Supercars pole at Mount Panorama, defeating Chaz Mostert in a thrilling Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at the Thrifty Bathurst 500.

Feeney, last man out in the one-lap dash, pieced together a 2:06.5465s to beat Mostert by just 0.0988s.

Drivers were greeted by markedly different conditions to Boost Mobile Qualifying, with the heat descending on Mount Panorama.

However, Mostert laid down an impressive time in his #25 Mobil 1 Optus Ford to put the pressure on Red Bull Ampol Racing, which brought home a one-two on Saturday.

Will Brown (#87 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet) fell 0.0784s short of Mostert's time, with Feeney the only thing standing between the Ford star and a first pole since the 2021 Bathurst 1000.

However, Feeney kept his cool and clocked a time that proved 1.2s slower than the fastest time in morning qualifying.

"I was pretty keen to to get a pole here. I think my first two sectors were pretty good and I just tried to bring it home in the last one," the 21-year-old said.

"Pumped for the team. I love the look of the [championship leader] number of the stickers on there. They look awesome in orange.

"My start wasn't great yesterday and Chaz had a good one, so obviously we'll try and get a good launch today and a good run into [Turn] 1, and see what happens.

"We've got a real fast race car, so I'm just looking forward to getting out there and having some fun."

Nick Percat (#10 Bendix Chevrolet) was first man out, with Will Davison (#17 Shell V-Power Ford) and Jack Le Brocq (#9 TFH Hire Services Chevrolet) both improving.

Thomas Randle (#55 Castrol Ford) ended up seventh despite clipping the wall exiting The Dipper, while David Reynolds (#20 TRADIE Beer Chevrolet) was fifth after his heart-in-mouth moment earlier in qualifying.

James Golding (#31 PremiAir Nulon Chevrolet) laid down the gauntlet with a 2:06.9545s, and would eventually match his career-best starting position of fourth, with both Red Bull Ampol drivers and Mostert improving.

Anton De Pasquale (#11 Shell V-Power Ford) was 10th and last of the runners, some 0.9652s, and will share the fifth row with Percat.

The Thrifty Bathurst 500 will conclude with Race 2 at 3:05pm AEDT.
