F1 joins V8 Supercars in new FOXTEL deal

V8 Supercars has been joined by Formula 1 on Fox Sports and Ten from this year with the networks sharing the broadcast rights for the next five years.

FOX SPORTS and Ten have united in a deal mirroring that of V8 Supercars with every practice, qualifying and race across the year live and in high definition on FOX SPORTS, 10 of those races simulcast on Ten and highlights packages on free to air for the remainder.

FOX SPORTSalso has the rights to Moto GP across the season meaning it and Ten are the places to watch the best international motorsport categories in the world. Ten will also show 43 weeks of motorsport every Sunday at 4pm with the return of the enormously popular RPM.

The Formula 1 telecasts will kick off with the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 13-16, which also showcases V8 Supercars, with four races across the Albert Park weekend.

Foxtel has recently announced a $50 package for new subscribers and its triple play bundles which offer never seen packages that include home broadband, home phone and all channels on the Foxtel platform which includes live online access via Foxtel Go and Foxtel Play.

FOX SPORTS CEO Patrick Delany described it as monumental for motorsport fans.

"This is a monumental deal for F1 fans and is in line with our V8 Supercars and MotoGP arrangements, bringing Australian viewers through FOX SPORTS on Foxtel LIVE coverage of every practice, qualifying and Championship Race from this season," he said.

"On top of this, we have reached an extraordinary affiliate agreement with Sky to deliver through FOX SPORTS the same incredible Formula 1 coverage which is provided by Sky Sports in the UK.

"With LIVE coverage of every F1 event joining V8 Supercars and MotoGP on FOX SPORTS in 2015, fans will see the very best motorsport in the world, all LIVE and in High Definition."

Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein added fans would be thrilled with the extensive coverage and peek behind the scenes.

"This announcement is great news for motorsports fans and terrific for Foxtel. Together with FOX SPORTS we have worked hard to build a truly comprehensive motor sports portfolio and F1 is, of course, an absolute jewel in the crown.
