Early flyer nets Everingham Super2 pole

A clinical early flyer has helped Tyler Everingham clinch pole for the Super2 Bathurst finale.

Everingham, who hails from nearby Dubbo, secured his third ARMOR ALL Pole of the season.

The MW Motorsport driver will start alongside fellow Altima driver Matt Payne.

Everingham's 2:07.595s proved 0.2s quicker than Payne, with the top five covered by 0.68s.

The top five in the session will all take part in Sunday’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

Zak Best, who won Friday’s truncated race, qualified third ahead of Cameron Hill.

Hill was fastest to the second sector as the chequered flag flew, and loomed to take a maiden pole.

However, he made errors at The Chase and Murray’s Corner, and didn't improve.

Still, Hill managed to split Best and Super2 series leader Declan Fraser.

Best slashed Fraser’s series lead to 75 points on Saturday, and is now in the box seat to further eat into it.

Kai Allen soared to Super3 pole by over five seconds, and qualified a standout eighth overall.

Eggleston teen Allen was behind Jay Hanson and Matt McLean.

Aaron Seton - who will race with Jack Le Brocq on Sunday - and Thomas Maxwell rounded out the top 10.

Everingham is one of four drivers within striking distance of points leader Fraser.

Payne is 132 points behind in third, with Hill (165 points) and Everingham (171) behind.

Depending on results, up to five drivers could be in contention to win the title in Adelaide.

The 18-lap Race 2 will commence at 4:00pm local time.
