Dominance for Dumbrell, Disaster for Le Brocq

Paul Dumbrell backed up his sensational showing in the main co-driver race today with a dominant win in a manic Race Two of the Supercars Dunlop Series.

The start of the race saw multiple cars run off track after a spectacular crash that included Championship leader Jack Le Brocq.

Matt Chahda, who started off 16th position on the grid, barrelled down the inside of turn one, losing control of his Falcon, getting airbourne after hitting Bryce Fullwood’s Middy’s Electrical Ford.

The ensuing carnage saw Le Brocq, Todd Hazelwood, Adam Marjoram and Andrew Jones all knocked off the track, stuck in the sand trap at turn one. Renee Gracie was also caught up, but was able to avoid damage and continue the race.

Once the race got back underway, it was a battle between Dumbrell and new points leader Garry Jacobson.

The pair traded paint across the remaining laps, in a super intense battle, that saw Taz Douglas also get involved to make it a three-way struggle through the last few laps.

Kurt Kostecki matched his best finish of the season, finishing fourth after starting sixth. Shae Davies had another solid race to finish fifth, with the GRM pairing of Golding and Muscat sixth and seventh.

Returning female racer Chelsea Angelo took good advantage of the madness and raced her way to tenth position at the flag.

Jacobson now leads Le Brocq in the standings by a margin of 85 points, with one more race for the Dunlop Series at Sandown tomorrow morning at 10:50am local time.

There are two rounds remaining for Le Brocq to claw back, at Bathurst and Sydney Olympic Park.
