Will Brown 15th in standings, 153 points behind Broc Feeney
Brown penalised over pit infringement in Race 2, collision in Race 3
2024 champion is two time defending winner of Larry Perkins Trophy
Will Brown is hopeful all of his bad luck has been used up in one weekend, as the 2024 Supercars champion looks to get his campaign back on track.
The Queenslander left Sydney a lowly 15th in the championship, marking his worst start to a season in five years.
After sitting 17th overall after his first round in 2021, Brown left season openers no lower than seventh in the championship between 2022 and 2025, and was in the top two in 2024 and 2025.
After surviving a clash with Matt Payne in Race 1, Brown was penalised over a pit lane infringement in the Saturday race, finishing 14th. Come Sunday, Brown collided with Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki, incurring another penalty.
If finishing 18th wasn't bad enough, Brown was taken to the medical centre after suffering through cool suit issues.
“It was a terrible weekend for me, but on a whole, I think we had really good pace,” Brown said post-round.
"It should have been probably three podiums, but just everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
"So hopefully we've got a lot of our bad luck out of the way already for the year and come back stronger. Broc [Feeney] showed we've got fast cars, he won two races.
"I'm confident leading into the next couple of rounds that we can do a good job."
Despite finishing ahead in the standings, Brown was soundly defeated by teammate Feeney in 2025, losing the qualifying head-to-head 32-2.
Feeney out-qualified Brown for all three races in Sydney. Brown did go faster in Sunday qualifying, before changeable conditions propelled Feeney from 10th to first in the Shootout.
Crucially, Brown has a chance to restart his campaign at Albert Park, where he topped the last two Supercars round point scores and, with it, won the Larry Perkins Trophy.
"For us it was just a weekend of what could have been," added Brown, who is already 153 points behind Feeney.
"Really not the way we want to start the year but we know we've got a fast car so we'll push on and have a crack. It's early and there are good signs."
Track action in Melbourne commences on March 5-8.
