Red Bull Ampol Racing’s new Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros will use a unique livery in pre-season testing.

Triple Eight’s two Camaros will roll out for their first test day at Queensland Raceway on Thursday.

It’s the first time Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney will have driven their 2023 cars.

Van Gisbergen and Feeney will again be engineered by Andrew Edwards and Martin Short respectively.

The striking test livery — which will be used at the team's February 9 and 14 test days — has been designed by veteran motorsport livery designer Peter Hughes.

The Camaros will carry a dark blue scheme, complete with silver sponsor logos.

The team will carry Red Bull Ampol co-naming rights for a third consecutive season, and also has backing from ACDelco, Ampol Amplify Premium Fuels, Chevrolet Racing, HP, Harvey Norman, New Holland, National Storage, Supercheap Auto, ToolPro, Wurth, Quad Lock and Local Legends.

"The idea for this unique test livery design came from the team at Triple Eight, so my input was to bring to life that exciting vision," Hughes said.

"With the extra flexibility of a test day one off, we settled on one base colour of satin dark blue with contrasting chrome silver signage and details.

"The temptation was to add more ‘designer’ detail to the livery, but we let the proportions and surfaces of the new Gen3 Camaro do the talking, creating a dramatic and aggressive feel that really suits the Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro. The end result is stunning.”

Triple Eight, General Motors' homologation team, has spearheaded the development of the Gen3 Camaro alongside Supercars.

Triple Eight Team Principal and Managing Director Jamie Whincup labelled the Gen3 project the team's "biggest achievement".

“I can’t emphasise enough the enormous dedication our Triple Eight Race Engineering team has put into this Gen3 project,” Whincup said.

"For three years our design team led by our Technical Director, Jeromy Moore have delivered Supercars, their partners and the millions of fans around the world an extremely high-quality racing product suited to our Australian conditions.

“More recently our manufacturing and car preparation teams have been working around the clock to make our first official test day this week.

"This project is no doubt Triple Eight Race Engineering’s biggest achievement.

"To see two fully built, fully operational Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaros having their first run at Queensland Raceway will be beyond exciting for all of us.”

Triple Eight’s two Camaros will share Queensland Raceway with PremiAir Racing on Thursday.

The two teams assembled the latter’s Camaros at Triple Eight’s Banyo headquarters.

The 2023 Red Bull Ampol Racing livery will be unveiled prior to the all-in test at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 22.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle on March 10-12.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
