Triple Eight Race Engineering is continuing to blood rising star Oli Wickham in a range of series, with the teenager to make his Trans Am debut.

Wickham, 17, will make his first starts in the national Trans Am Cup Series on the undercard of this weekend’s Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

Triple Eight pried the teen away from the Erebus Academy, with Wickham recently closing out a successful Mustang Cup Australia campaign. The 2025 GR Cup champion, Wickham also finished runner-up in the national Formula Ford series.

Wickham recently completed a test day at Winton Motor Raceway with Maverick Performance in a Ford Mustang Trans Am Cup car.

He has also spent time trackside in the Red Bull Ampol Racing garage at Supercars rounds.

Upon signing Wickham, Triple Eight Managing Director Jamie Whincup said his team was out to support moving the rising star through the ranks, to Super2 and into Supercars.

“I am incredibly excited to make my debut in the final round of the Trans Am Series at Sandown International Raceway in a Maverick Performance prepared Ford Mustang Trans Am car,” Wickham said.

"It is awesome to take another big step forward and to learn as I continue to progress my driving and racing career.

“It is a privilege that I am able to continue growing my relationship with Triple Eight Race Engineering as a driver, as well as Earl Evans of Shaw and Partners Financial Services, Stephen Blackmore of SCTR, the team at ACL Bearings and all my other wonderful supporters and partners that believe in me and the journey we’re on.

“The racing in the category looks tough, so I am really excited to learn as much as I can from the experienced regulars. From the outside looking in, Trans Am has produced drivers that have gone on and achieved great things in Australian motorsport, and I hope I can follow their pathway.

“I can’t thank Jamie and the entire team at Triple Eight Race Engineering enough for allowing me to pursue this opportunity to further broaden my skill sets in preparation for what the future may bring.”
