Australian boxer Tim Tszyu has put stars of Supercars through their paces in a vigorous training session.

Tickford Racing duo Cameron Waters and Jack Le Brocq joined Shell V-Power Racing Team's Anton De Pasquale for a boxing session at Tszyu’s Sydney-based gym on Tuesday.

The trio underwent intense strength and conditioning drills and sparring exercises led by 19-time winner Tszyu.

It comes as the Australian light middleweight professional boxer prepares to face Japanese boxer Takeshi Inoue on November 17.

“They all went really well,” Tszyu said of the drivers’ performances.

“They were gassing [tired] but they did well.

“We did three different exercises; one was combination punching which was on the pads.

“The other one was body shots working on just digging it in, and then with me, it was just power shots.

“I told them to imagine you have your opponent on the kill, that's how we say it, you’ve got your partner on the cue and you going for the for the kills.

“Cam [Waters] had the hardest punches.”

Mildura-based driver Waters regularly uses kickboxing in his own training program and relished the opportunity to spar with Tzsyu.

“I had a lot of fun,” Waters said of the training session.

“I do a little bit of boxing and kickboxing, but to get to come here and do it with people that are so professional, is a pretty good experience.

“I could definitely tell Tszyu was a pro, he asked me to do things and my mind wants me to do it, but my body couldn't keep up.

“I had a lot of fun, to be able to get in the ring and train with him and these guys, and straight away you can see they're at such a high level, it was a really cool experience.

“I was pretty spent pretty quickly, but hopefully it'll set me up for the weekend.”

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will resume next weekend at the ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight.

Tickets for the three upcoming Sydney events are on sale now.
