The second leg of the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight has been suspended due to inclement weather.

Race 30 of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship was started behind the BP Ultimate Safety Car.

Drivers followed the Safety Car for five laps before the red flag was shown and cars returned to pit lane.

The race was suspended amid concerns over standing water and rivers running across the Eastern Creek venue.

According to the regulations, if a race is suspended before 50 per cent of the scheduled race distance has been completed by the leading car and cannot be resumed, no points will be awarded.

If a race is suspended after more than 50 per cent of the scheduled race distance has been completed by the leading car and cannot be resumed, full points will be awarded.

As such, 32 laps must be completed in order for full points to be awarded.

Shane van Gisbergen entered Sunday with a 349-point series lead over Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate Jamie Whincup.

Should Whincup win the race, van Gisbergen must finish sixth or better to clinch his second drivers' title ahead of the season-ending Repco Bathurst 1000.

The race has a time certain finish of 5:13pm AEDT plus one lap.
