Broc Feeney sits second heading to Sandown Semi Final
Feeney claimed maiden Gold Coast Supercars race victory
Feeney lost 2025 championship in Adelaide finale
The Finals reset could not have come for a better time for Broc Feeney.
A torrid run to 19th in the Ryco Enduro Cup had seen the #88 Ford drift to some 255 points behind the ruthlessly consistent Matt Payne, despite the Kiwi also having a quiet run through the enduros.
Entering as the Finals hunter isn't the script Feeney had followed in 2025, leading the championship after the end of the regular season, and at the end of both the Gold Coast and Sandown, before his championship heartbreak in Adelaide.
But whilst his championship position mightn't be the same, the winning mentality hasn't, as evidenced by a dominant home win on the Gold Coast.
"Second year of the Finals and we don't change how we go about it — you go and try and win races,” Feeney said.
“We played the Final as well last year, I mean, we led the championship going into every round.
“Unfortunately I missed out by a couple of points this time around for the top seed going to Sandown, but you know, we go to Sandown in second on the ladder and we had a pretty good run there last year, got a win.
“The goal is to go to Sandown and try and win, put ourselves in a good position come Adelaide.”
Feeney's luckless run through the enduros was compounded by a stunning form resurgence for teammate Will Brown, who not only won the Ryco Enduro Cup, but also scored more points than anyone from Ipswich to Bathurst.
Despite a comfortable victory margin, Feeney did need to stave off an attack from Bathurst winner Brodie Kostecki, and looked set to face a potential Gold Coast rematch with Chaz Mostert, before he backed off to assist his Walkinshaw TWG Racing teammate Ryan Wood's title chances.
When asked if his first win in two months had come at a perfect time, Feeney responded: "For sure, I think we needed to get a win under our belt here.
"Obviously we got a win at QR and we were fast there, but really tough enduro campaign, especially for the #88 side.
"To get a win gets the ball rolling again, I feel like we're starting to find our feet a little bit. I think this weekend we struggled so much yesterday in the wet, but to come out today and get pole position was fantastic in that.
"And then to win the race, but these boys were extremely fast today, so there's still plenty to look at and improve for Sandown, but great time to get a win."
Feeney remains second in points behind Payne, who had one of his quieter weekends of the season with a third and a sixth.
The championship chase continues at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 from November 6-8.
