The Norton 360Racing team has revealed a 'vehicle' to raise community awareness arounddepression and anxiety, illnesses which affect millions of Australians andtheir families every year.
Norton 360 Racing will race at this weekend'sAustralian F1 Grand Prix carrying _beyondblue_logos on the roof of its two Nissan Altima V8 Supercars.
The Chief Executive of beyondblue, Kate Carnell AO, along with Norton team drivers JamesMoffat and Michael Caruso, unveiled the modified paint schemes in the pit laneof Albert Park race circuit in Melbourne this morning.
“beyondblue is delighted to join Nortonby Symantec to raise awareness about depression and anxiety. These conditionsare common and treatable and our new partnership will help spread this messageamongst the motorsport and wider community.”
Trudie Wood, Head of Marketing for Pacific Consumer,Norton by Symantec, hoped the fact that the _beyondblue_logo was prominently displayed on Nissan race cars was likely to ensure morepeople took notice.
“There are people across all of Australia,including sportsmen, who struggle with depression and anxiety, and we hope thatthe beyondblue logos on our Nortoncars not only fuel public discussion and awareness, but encourage people toseek help, and in turn reduce the stigma associated with these illnesses.”
The Norton 360 Racing team is running two of thefour new Nissan Motorsport cars in V8 Supercar racing this year. The cars madetheir debut two weeks ago at the Clipsal 500 race in Adelaide where JamesMoffat scored a best result of 13th place.
