Matt Stone Racing will run Chevrolet Camaros when the Gen3 era starts in 2023.

The team, which has campaigned Commodores since the midpoint of 2018, confirmed the news on Friday.

MSR made its main game debut with a sole Falcon in 2018 before it shifted to a Commodore.

The team expanded to a two-car Commodore operation in 2020.

In a statement, the team explained it had conducted a thorough review of what would be best for the team in all key areas of the operation.

The end result was MSR remaining with General Motors.

It ensures there will be 14 Camaros and 11 Mustangs for Gen3's 2023 debut.

"There were many factors that had to be weighed up just like any major decision in any business," Stone explained.

"MSR is not in Supercars to just make up the numbers as we have shown with our continuous improvement and results.

"We are here to win, and the quality of our key partnerships is key to achieving that goal.

"Being a race team, the overall performance of the car was of course at the top of our list.

"We have no doubt that the Chevy Racing Camaro will be an excellent package that we can win races with.

"We are also impressed with the leadership and support at Triple Eight, which is something Ford doesn’t offer."

Chris Payne, General Manager Chevrolet Racing, was pleased to see MSR commit to GM.

"We’re excited that Matt Stone Racing is onboard with the Chevrolet Racing Camaro for Gen3," Payne said.

"Matt and the MSR team have shown a great commitment to the GM product at all levels of the competition.

"We’re enthused to be working with them as we enter this next exciting era."

The 2022 season will resume at Winton on May 21-22. Purchase your tickets now.
