Brad Jones is keen to have Nick Percat “complete his career” with his eponymous team after the driver signed a new multi-year extension.

Percat was confirmed Wednesday to remain with Brad Jones Racing in 2022 and beyond.

The 32-year-old joined the Albury squad in 2017, with his new deal to make him at least a seven-year BJR driver.

Percat shifted to BJR from Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, where he won the 2016 Adelaide 500 and scored a Bathurst 1000 podium.

Jones was pleased to retain Percat’s services as the team readies for the Gen3 era, which is set to come into effect next season.

"I am very excited that Nick and I have agreed to extend his contract with the team, especially as we move forward into this exciting new chapter of motorsport,” Jones said.

"Nick has been an integral part of our team over the last five years and we are seeing the rewards.

"I’m looking forward to continuing the success into this next era.

"We have a great relationship on and off-track and strive for the same goals.

"Nick’s our team leader and means much more to the team than just a driver.

“I'd like to think he would complete his career with BJR."

Percat has won two races with BJR, both coming at Sydney Motorsport Park last season.

He scored a Saturday podium with the team at Hidden Valley Raceway earlier this month, and is eyeing sixth in the standings.

It comes after he finished a career-best seventh last season.

"I’m really excited to continue my journey with Brad and the whole team at BJR," Percat said.

"To get this extension locked in early is really important as I can now put it behind me and focus on the future with the team.

"It’s a very exciting time for the sport over the next 12 months with the introduction of Gen3 and I think I have the right people around me to get great results.”

BJR also revealed renders of Gen3-style Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 renders featuring the 2021 liveries of Percat and Macauley Jones’s cars.

The team is yet to lock in a manufacturer for 2022 and beyond, but has raced with Holdens since 2008.

Regardless, retaining Percat is a major coup for the team, with the 237-race veteran one of several names to be mooted for the second Red Bull Ampol Racing seat.

"All the guys and girls work tremendously hard and I’m happy where I am and feel very at home with the team; we’re a family,” Percat said.

"I’m stoked to get this locked in so I can focus on racing. I’m excited to get to Townsville off the back of my podium in Darwin.

"We had good speed last year where we got a pole position and front row lock out so I’m hoping we can continue that form this year."

Percat is set to return to the track at next weekend’s NTI Townsville 500, which will be the sixth round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship.
