Jordan Boys is looking towards a test day to break into the top five at the VAILO Adelaide 500, where he will make a cameo appearance for Image Racing.

The Erebus Academy is welcoming Boys back into the fold after Jack Perkins opted to withdraw from the Adelaide event to focus on his broadcast commitments with the Seven Network.

Boys will test the Erebus Shaw and Partners Racing Commodore at Winton Motor Raceway on Tuesday, over a week out from his first Dunlop Series start since 2021.

The Albury-born driver raced in the Dunlop Series for Image Racing between 2018 and 2021, and scored wins at Sandown (2019), Newcastle (2019) and Bathurst (2021). He has since raced in S5000, and has been Macauley Jones’ co-driver since 2022.

Boys also made three wildcard round appearances in the main game last year, and out-scored his fellow wildcard drivers across the three rounds.

Heading to Adelaide, Boys has high expectations, and hopes Tuesday’s test can fast track his learning. Boys is no stranger to Erebus and Image, given he also works with Image’s current drivers, Jay Hanson and Jobe Stewart (Super3).

“I haven’t raced in a Supercar at Adelaide in a few years but I’ve done some S5000 racing there since Super2 and I’ve always enjoyed the track and the event,” Boys said.

“We’ve got a test day coming up so it’ll really just be a bit of a systems check for me and for the car, just to make sure I’m dialled in and feeling confident heading into the event.

“I’d like to slot into the top five. That’s my plan and I’ll be focusing on some qualifying stuff at the test day to try and put myself in a good spot and stay out of trouble from there.”

Boys will be one of several drivers keen to make an impressive in Tuesday's test, along with Super3 driver Cameron McLeod, who will get laps in a Walkinshaw Andretti United ZB Commodore.

Third-generation racer McLeod has been the pace-setter in Super3 this year, taking nine of 10 poles, but his campaign has largely been undone by poor luck, headlined by two DNFs at Sandown.

Dunlop Series action will commence at the VAILO Adelaide 500 on Thursday November 23.
