With several drivers coming off-contract, Andre Heimgartner locked into Brad Jones Racing's Toyota future, and Zak Best eyeing a full-time drive, there's plenty of intrigue over the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship grid.
In recent weeks, BJR confirmed it will switch from General Motors to Toyota from 2026, with Heimgartner confirmed to remain for a fifth season.
BJR is one of three teams changing cars, with Triple Eight Race Engineering swapping Chevrolets for Fords, and Walkinshaw Andretti United swapping Fords for Toyotas.
The 2025 Enduro Cup grid is nearly complete, but the 2026 grid itself is far from home; at current, 11 of 24 seats are locked in, leaving question marks over the remaining 13.
So, who's locked in for '26?
The current line-ups at Triple Eight (Will Brown, Broc Feeney), WAU (Chaz Mostert, Ryan Wood) and Penrite Racing (Matt Payne, Kai Allen) will remain unchanged into 2026.
Two of those line-ups will race for new brands; Brown and Feeney for Ford, and Mostert and Wood for Toyota.
Nick Percat is also officially contracted through 2027 with Matt Stone Racing, first joining the team in 2024. Heimgartner, meanwhile, is set to contest his fifth season in a third brand with BJR in 2026, racing Holdens (2022) and Chevrolets (2023-25) for the team.
Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing), Anton De Pasquale (Team 18) and Cooper Murray (Erebus Motorsport) arrived at new teams in 2025, and are set to go around again in 2026.
The current field
Tickford Racing (Cam Waters, Thomas Randle), MSR (Cameron Hill), James Golding (PremiAir Racing), Erebus (Jack Le Brocq) and Team 18 (David Reynolds) all entered 2025 with drivers coming off-contract.
One of the biggest questions is that of Waters' future, especially after Executive Director of GM Motorsport Competition Eric Warren said chasing star drivers is key for his company’s motorsport push.
GM is looking to "recruit talent," and Waters is the highest-profile driver currently in Ford's arsenal that isn't publicly locked in for 2026. Change seems unlikely, however; Waters and Randle both have options in their contracts and are in good form, and CEO Simon Brookhouse has publicly stated he wants both to stay. V8 Sleuth, meanwhile, has reported Waters has rejected GM's advances. For reference, Waters revealed in May last year that he wasn't going anywhere for 2025.
After being announced alongside Kostecki for 2025, Davison is also set to go around again with DJR in 2026. The two-time Bathurst winner shook down a new car on Wednesday.
A star performer in 2025, Hill surprisingly doesn't have a public deal for 2026 yet. The Canberran has been with MSR since 2023, and is easily 2025's most improved driver. However, team owner Matt Stone has previously indicated he won't rush into any decisions just yet.
New GM homologation team Team 18 has De Pasquale locked into "multi-year deal," taking him through to 2026. Reynolds, who turns 40 in July, signed a multi-year deal from 2024 and is believed to have an option for 2026. The 2017 Bathurst winner currently sits 17th in the points.
There are 'TBCs' at BJR, PremiAir, Erebus and Blanchard Racing Team. Of those nine seats, at least one will change, with James Courtney retiring at the end of 2025.
Heimgartner is locked in, with BJR also running entries for Macauley Jones, Jaxon Evans and Bryce Fullwood. Jones has raced in Supercars in a full-time BJR capacity since 2019, Fullwood 2022, and Evans 2024.
At Erebus, Cooper Murray has been locked in for 2026 courtesy of a "multi-year deal." Jack Le Brocq's contract is up at the end of the season. Le Brocq leads both head-to-heads, and has been solid since joining last season. Since debuting full-time in 2018, Le Brocq has completed two-year stints at Tekno Autosports, Tickford and MSR, and is now into his second season with Erebus.
While not officially announced as such, Richie Stanaway is thought to have signed with PremiAir Racing on a two-year deal through the end of 2026.
James Golding has yet to be confirmed for next season. Golding joined midway through 2022, and recently finished fourth in Tasmania. He has been key to the team's rise, taking PremiAir's first pole and podium last season.
As mentioned, BRT will have one change at least, with Courtney calling it day. Aaron Cameron replaced Aaron Love after Round 2.
Rising stars in the frame?
Triple Eight, Tickford, WAU, Erebus and BJR have drivers in Super2. The leading picks of the current development series bunch appear to be reigning champ Zach Bates, who will race a Triple Eight enduro wildcard with Craig Lowndes, and current leader Rylan Gray.
Should Waters and Randle go around again with Tickford, Gray could become hot property should he continue to impress in Super2, and make a splash in Tickford's wildcard in Darwin and the enduros.
The Bates family, meanwhile, has a long and successful history with Toyota. The prospect of one day racing a Toyota Supercar is a tantalising one for Bates, and could become reality should there be change at BJR. Like Murray last year, Bates will likely get a main game audition of sorts in a solo Triple Eight wildcard, with Ipswich the final stop on the Repco Sprint Cup tour.
Amid Le Brocq's future, Erebus has rising stars Jobe Stewart and Jarrod Hughes in its academy, and both rising stars already locked in for Enduro Cup debuts. Stewart has already made waves in Supercars circles, winning the 2023 Super3 title and a Super2 race in Bathurst last year.
Best's declaration that he wants in on 2026 could also throw the cat amongst the pigeons, although it could offer some stability at BRT. While Courtney takes experience with him into retirement, the Ford squad could uncover something special should Best impress in the enduros.
