Broc Feeney and Will Brown have revealed how they both watched the dramatic climax to the VAILO Adelaide 500 unfold on the big screens.

Brown famously won the final race of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship after Feeney, who was carrying a penalty, sent Chaz Mostert into a spin at Turn 5.

Long-time leader Mostert held off Feeney for the balance of the race, and was in the box seat after Feeney was handed a 15-second time penalty over an unsafe release.

Feeney, however, was told Mostert would let him past, only to punt the Mobil 1 Optus Mustang into the barriers at Turn 5. Feeney was hit with another 15-second penalty, with Brown inheriting victory after fighting back through the field.

Speaking on Supercars' upcoming Drivers Only podcast, Feeney reiterated that he was informed Mostert knew about the penalty, and downplayed his Ford rival's fears that the Triple Eight driver could open up a 15-second margin in the final 16 laps.

"I was told, 'Chaz has been told to let you go'. As soon as he did that, I was like, 'Rightio, I'll show the nose'," Feeney said.

"I obviously showed the nose, and tried to back out. He said to me afterwards, 'I'd let you go with 12 [laps] to go, I was worried you were going to pull 15 seconds'. I was like, 'Mate, I'm not that fast'.

"I was fast at that point of the race, but we both had a bit of damage after the pit stop."

Several seconds down the road, Brown revealed he was following the action around the track on the big screens, and when he caught a glimpse of Mostert's car in the barriers, began asking questions.

"I remember getting into third, 'Imagine if these two guys crash, and I won this from last'," Brown said.

"Then Chaz is in the fence at Turn 5 and I'm trying to watch the big screen, and I'm looking like, 'Did Broc turn him, what's happened here?'"

Nursing a damaged car, Mostert fell into the clutches of a fast-approaching Brown, with Feeney expressing remorse for his rival following the incident: "I'm half like, I don't mean to be rude, but I wanted Chaz to win, because obviously I just put him in the fence.

"I was looking up at the screen out of [Turn] 8, and I could just see Will on him, and I was like, 'Oh my god'."

Feeney ultimately apologised to Mostert after the race, while Triple Eight boss Jamie Whincup moved to silence accusations of team orders. Brown also downplayed the theories, joking: "It's funny, like, people online are bagging, saying, 'He turned you for the other car'.

"We're team players, but I'm not that committed for you. If the team came over the radio and said, 'Just fence this guy for Broc', I'm not going to do that.

"If they paid me a lot, I'd probably do it."

The upcoming Drivers Only episode will be released across Supercars' digital channels and Listnr platforms.
