Triple Eight star Will Brown locks in 2025 NASCAR Cup Series cameo
Reigning champion to take on Shane van Gisbergen, Cup stars in Chicago
Chicago race to take place one week before NTI Townsville 500
Will Brown will return to NASCAR in 2025, with the Supercars champion to take on Shane van Gisbergen and stars of the Cup Series in the Chicago street race.
Brown, who made his debut in a Richard Childress Racing Camaro at Sonoma Raceway last June, will race for Chevrolet team Kaulig Racing in July.
The Chicago race will be held one week before the NTI Townsville 500.
Brown will drive Kaulig Racing’s #13 Chevrolet, joining teammates AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon.
The #13 Chevrolet will be supported by MobileX, Shaw and Partners Financial Services, QuadLock, KMC Wheels, Direct Plasterboard Outlet (DPO), Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions, Southern Cross Truck Rentals, Wurth, Xpress Fleet, Leaf Filter Gutter Protection and Supercars.
The Red Bull Ampol Racing star revealed his latest deal in the lead-up to next weekend's Perth round, with Brown just 33 points behind teammate Broc Feeney.
After winning last year's Supercars title, Brown revealed he had plans return to the United States to tackle NASCAR's best as the new Supercars champion.
Brown's Chicago deal is a one-race deal, with the Queenslander following Jack Perkins in securing NASCAR action in 2025. Feeney and Cam Waters have also been linked to drives, in Cup and Xfinity respectively.
Brown's NASCAR Cup Series debut last year started well, the Toowoomba driver impressing to third in practice. However, electrical issues curtailed his qualifying and race efforts.
Having watched van Gisbergen's efforts two years ago, Brown was determined to give the Chicago race a crack himself.
“After watching SVG win the 2023 Chicago NASCAR race and getting to drive myself at Sonoma last year, I’ve been really keen to have a go at the Grant Park 165,” Brown said.
“The Supercars calendar aligned this year to give me time to get over to Charlotte early to prepare and give the race a crack!
"I have watched Kaulig Racing closely this season and I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of the MobileX and Shaw and Partners Financial Services No. 13.”
Van Gisbergen shocked world motorsport in July 2023, winning the inaugural Chicago race. On that day, Kaulig Racing finished runner-up, courtesy of Justin Haley.
Kaulig owner Matt Kaulig said: “This is an amazing opportunity for Kaulig Racing to compete for a win in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar.
“We are so excited to have Will race with us and compete for the trophy. The team is ready, and we know he has the talent.”
Brown is 33 points behind teammate Broc Feeney heading to Perth on June 6-8. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
