For Supercars fans attending this month’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, there will be plenty of opportunities to see Repco Supercars Championship drivers on and off track.

Supercars may be a support category for the F1 event, but drivers will be competing for championship points at the Melbourne SuperSprint.

The winner of each race at the 2024 Melbourne SuperSprint will receive 75 championship points. Five championship points will be awarded to the driver who clocks the fastest lap time in each of the four races, provided they finish in the top 15 places of that race.

The driver who accumulates the most points across the four races receives the Larry Perkins Trophy, named in honour of the Supercars Hall of Fame inductee who also started eleven F1 Grands Prix.

The award was introduced in 2018 when the first ever championship round was staged for Supercars at the Australian Grand Prix. Previously, Supercars/ATCC races had been classed as a non-Championship event between 1985 and 2017.

The previous winners of the Larry Perkins Trophy are Jamie Whincup (2018), Chaz Mostert (2019), Shane van Gisbergen (2023) and Brodie Kostecki (2023). It was not awarded in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID cancellations.

Away from on track commitments, Supercars teams will be actively engaged with fans, with several team activations planned, as well as Supercars commitments around the precinct.

Team Transporters will be in the same location as 2023, on the oval outside the precinct area that fans will pass walking into the circuit via Gate 10/behind the Lauda Grandstand.

The Supercars Paddock Area is not a General Admission Area in 2024, and will require specific passes to access during the event. Please check the Australian Grand Prix website or contact Supercars teams directly for details.

Red Bull Ampol Racing Team’s newest recruit, Toowoomba local Will Brown, leads the points heading into the Melbourne SuperSprint, holding a slender nine-point buffer over his new Chevrolet Camaro teammate Broc Feeney.

Chaz Mostert is best of the Ford Mustang drivers in third place, 21 points behind Brown.

The Melbourne SuperSprint on-track sessions for the Repco Supercars Championship will be broadcast on Foxtel and Kayo Sports. Network Ten is the free-to-air broadcast partner of the Australian Grand Prix. Please check local guide for details.

All live television coverage of F1 in Australia is through Fox Sports, which is available via Foxtel and Foxtel Now. Foxtel owns the TV rights to broadcast Formula 1 in Australia, including every practice session, qualifying session and full Grand Prix race in 4K. Kayo Sports has access to every Supercars and Formula 1 practice session, qualifying session and full Grand Prix race live and on-demand.
