WAU confirms chassis change for Chaz Mostert
Mostert reverts to chassis raced in 2023, 2024
WAU star fifth in points heading to Townsville
Chaz Mostert will revert to a former Ford from this weekend's NTI Townsville 500, with Walkinshaw Andretti United completing a chassis change.
Mostert returns to chassis WR28, which he raced in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Ahead of 2025, Mostert was shifted into new chassis WR29, winning in New Zealand and racing to fifth in points through six rounds.
In a statement, WAU said the decision was made so WR29 can rotate into the team's spare car for the remainder of the year.
WR29 will then be part of the team's Toyota programme in 2026 onwards, most likely as a spare.
WAU will move from Ford to Toyota from next season, and is the Japanese marque's homologation team in Supercars.
"Chaz will return from chassis WR29 to WR28 this weekend in Townsville, and ongoing." the team said.
"Chassis 28 was the car Chaz raced in 2023 and 2024.
"The decision was made so that Chassis 29, which debuted in round 1 this year in Sydney, being the newest Gen3 chassis in our current stable, can rotate into the spare car for the remainder of the year, and then will be part of the Toyota programme in 2026 onwards, most likely as a spare.
"We will be building two new chassis for the Toyota programme in 2026."
Mostert will resume his 2025 campaign at the NTI Townsville 500 on July 11-13. Supercars drivers will contest races on all three days of the event. Tickets for the NTI Townsville 500 are on sale now. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
