Rex Devantier has been revealed as Roland Dane's successor as Triple Eight Race Engineering chairman, following the news of the latter's exit.

Dane announced Monday that he will step down from his role at the end of the year, ending a long and decorated run in various roles at the helm of Triple Eight.

It comes just months after Earl Evans and Steve Blackmore bought into the team, with Jessica Dane selling her shares. Monday's news ensures the Danes no longer have an active executive or financial role in the team.

In his place will be Devantier, a senior executive with over 30 years of experience, and a right-hand man of Triple Eight co-owner Tony Quinn.

In his open letter, Dane wrote: "My final formal act as Chairman has been to propose, and endorse, the election of Rex Devantier to that position, effective 1.1.25.

"Rex has worked with TQ since Big Ben was a wristwatch and is very well qualified to keep the Board in order and on track. He's a behindĀ-the-scenes kind of guy and that's exactly what Triple Eight needs now.

"No-one at TS has ever really worked for me, but hundreds have worked with me and come out of the trenches alongside me. The success over the years has been yours as much as it's been mine and you've all made me look better than I really am."

Devantier joined Quinn's VIP Petfoods company in the early 2000s, and also had ties courtesy of flexible packaging business, Flexoprint. Devantier joined the VIP Group as CEO and General Manager, and has been key to Quinn's business exploits ever since.

He was also a key player in Quinn's purchase of Darrell Lea Confectionary in 2012, and remained with VIP following its sale to private equity in 2015.

Devantier has been a director at Triple Eight since 2022, the year after Quinn bought into the team.

Under Quinn ownership, Triple Eight has done the drivers' and teams' championship double in 2021, 2022 and 2024, and won the Bathurst 1000 in 2022 and 2023.

The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the opening round in Sydney on February 21-23. Tickets are on sale now.
